Church Innovations’ Partners Post

Welcome to the Bremer Project (Growing Healthier Congregations & Self-Study) Blog!

We are so happy and grateful to have your congregation as part of our group.

The journey we are taking involves several months of self-study, using the large-scale Church FutureFinder online tool and the smaller, deeper Congregational Discovery process of interviewing.  There are even two teams of folks:

  1. the CFF team who are working to complete all 12 sections of the online study, and
  2. the Listening Leaders who are working to complete about 24 interviews across the congregation’s membership.

What are you learning?

If you’re on the first team, what does it take to do CFF well? Are there skills or knowledge you had to have?  Are there attitudes you needed, or habits you’d pass along to someone else who will do it in the future? And what have you gotten out of doing the information gathering?

If you’re on the second team, what does it take to be a good Listening Leader? Are there skills or knowledge you needed?  Are there attitudes you kept in your mind, or habits you’d pass along to someone else who will do it in the future?  And what have you gotten out of doing the listening?

Let me know.

That’s it for now.

Peace. Pat

  2. I know for sure a good listening leader honors the contributions of the person he or she is listening to – this skill also comes in handy during big congregational conversations.
